We were frustrated by an industry that too often defaulted to tick-box engineering, siloed thinking, and missed opportunities.

We didn’t set out just to be different. We set out to do better — through collaboration, imagination, and design rooted in real-world impact.

EGY was born out of frustration, but it runs on passion.

We’re a small team by design, we are agile, and focused — moving fast and thinking freely. Our size keeps us close to the work — and even closer to the people behind it.

But don’t mistake lean for light.

Paul Davis

BEng (Hons) MSc CEng MICE

Engineering has been in Paul’s blood from a very young age, with a misspent youth tinkering with everything from furniture to engines. His insatiable curiosity for how things work could have led him down many career paths. It was a chance encounter that landed him his first job in civil engineering at the age of just 16.

Realising that his childhood passions could become a career, Paul quickly advanced through his formal education—earning both a BEng (Hons) and MSc in Civil Engineering while working full time—and later became a Chartered Civil Engineer. Professionally, he quickly rose through the ranks, from humble beginnings as a Junior CAD Technician to Director of Development Infrastructure at Elliott Wood.

Paul is driven by the belief that civil engineering can, and does, change the world for the better every single day. His passion for finding innovative solutions to seemingly impossible problems is what motivated him to co-found EGY—a platform that allows him to challenge convention and innovate without limits. He is never afraid to ask “why not?” and loves nothing more than challenging the status quo.

They say true love lasts a lifetime, and Paul’s love of engineering extends far beyond his day job. At home, you will undoubtedly find him engineering a solution to something, whether it be screw piling the foundations of a climbing frame or building a bug hotel with his daughter, he’s always looking for the next problem to solve.

Keri Trimmer

MEng (Hons) CEng MICE

Keri hadn’t always planned on becoming a civil engineer. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming an astronomer — a career fuelled by curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. However, in 2006, he put his ambitions to be the next Patrick Moore on ice and began his career as a junior CAD Technician at Atkins — where something just clicked.

It was there that he discovered a love for civil engineering: the satisfaction of solving real-world challenges and shaping places in meaningful, tangible ways. It called on the same values that had inspired his earlier ambitions, now applied in a more practical and collaborative setting.

Keri built on that foundation by earning a first-class master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Portsmouth and later becoming a Chartered Engineer with the ICE. He has since worked at a number of top-tier consultancies, including Halcrow, Conisbee, and Elliott Wood — guided by one clear belief: engineering should do more than deliver projects; it should create places that work better for people and the planet.

He’s passionate about using engineering as a force for good — which is why he co-founded EGY, to make a real difference by delivering practical, sustainable solutions to everyday challenges. Whether it’s creating safer, greener streets, enhancing public spaces, or developing smart, sustainable ways to manage water, he brings a grounded, purpose-led approach to every project.

Outside of work, Keri devotes too much time, money, and energy to his two house cats — who live like royalty in a custom-built catio, naturally engineered to the highest standard.
