Purley Rise

Sustainable Drainage, External Works
London Borough of Croydon

Our team was instrumental in delivering this distinctive development of four new-build homes in Purley—contemporary residences designed to maximise natural light, promote open-plan living, and connect seamlessly with their landscaped setting.

Through the careful implementation of on-site soakaways and permeable paving, the following benefits could be realised:

100% surface water run-off betterment post-development.
Disconnection of surface water mis-connection to foul sewer. Reducing downstream sewage treatment plant demands.
80% average removal of silt, heavy metals and hydrocarbons
Introduced rainwater harvesting measures. Reducing potable water demand.

Set on a sloping site, the project required careful consideration of surface water management to ensure sustainability and long-term resilience. We developed a drainage strategy that seamlessly integrates with the architecture and landscaping, incorporating SuDS principles to mitigate runoff and enhance on-site water management.

The steep sloping site required careful consideration and tiered SuDS devices to maximise hydraulic efficiency.

Close collaboration with the project architects enabled us to deliver drainage solutions that balance performance with visual appeal, supporting both the practical needs of the homes and the character of their landscaped setting. The result is a high-performing, environmentally conscious design that enhances the modern elegance of this development.
